Ethical Production & Social Good

Created in 2015, the story of Hindbag began in 2012, during a student project led by Pierre, the brand's founder.

As part of his business school studies, he collaborated with the NGO  Swami Sivananda Memorial Institute  (SSMI), based in Delhi, to have tote bags made for business communication needs. The objective is to enable the NGO to no longer depend on donations thanks to fixed income.

SSMI then already had its textile activity where it trained women from underprivileged neighborhoods in sewing to enable them to emancipate themselves.

When the project was finished, Pierre suggested that the NGO continue to work together on the design of kits and tote bags for companies, and thus founded Hindbag in 2015. The brand, which initially only made the personalization of textiles for companies, developed a range of colorful bags and fashion accessories in organic cotton for the general public.

Today, Hindbag represents the most important source of income for the NGO thanks to its activity of goodies for companies and its ethical brand for the general public. By relying on the know-how of the seamstresses and the activity of Hindbag, the NGO has succeeded in becoming financially independent. All the profits go to work for Women's Empowerment, the education of children, and the fight against malnutrition, the 3 main commitments of SSMI.
